Systems Engineering Training Workshop

Duration: 6 days

Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will understand the discipline and practice of systems engineering, and will have the knowledge necessary for the INCOSE certification examination (www.INCOSE.org).

Summary
Intended for both practicing professionals and students, this course is based upon the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, Fourth Edition, which provides an authoritative reference to understand the systems engineering discipline in terms of content and practice.

Change, Configuration and Version Management

Duration 3 days

Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and document the functional and physical characteristics of any product, component, result, or service
  2. Control any changes to such characteristics
  3. Record and report each change and its implementation status
  4. Support the audit of the products, results, services, or components to verify conformance to requirements

Summary
This training gives a practical guide of how to introduce and use change, configuration and version management for systems and software. Every item may change over time. Every change produces a new version of an item. Every configuration of a (valid) collection of items of specific versions must have a version itself. This training is based upon the standard IEEE 828-2012 “IEEE Standard for Configuration Management in Systems and Software Engineering”.

Understanding Requirements

Duration:    Full training 3 days
Summary 1 day

Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. identify potential difficulties with understanding requirements, including identifying potential problems with formulating requirements, and techniques for overcoming and avoiding misunderstandings.
  2. apply the learning to the work environment.
  3. access additional material. References for further reading will be provided.

Summary
How to ensure that all stakeholders share a common understanding.

Modelling is used to define requirements, help express what has been understood, to check consistency, and to support simulation and verification.

The training is in the form of a workshop and learning is achieved in teams through exercises.

Managing Requirements

  1. manage existing requirements and requirements related artifacts. Includes particularly storing, changing and tracing of requirements (traceability).
